I called an electrician because I smelled something burning near my panel. He came out, did an inspection, and said the panel itself was fine — a 2015 Eaton — but one breaker had a loose wire that was arcing. He tightened the connection, replaced that breaker, and the smell went away. So I didn't need a full replacement after all, which was a relief. The downside is I paid for an inspection I was nervous about, but honestly that was still the right call — I'm glad I didn't ignore the smell.
