That was eight months ago and I can barely find the cracks now. Wish I'd done it sooner instead of stressing about it.

I was convinced the whole patio needed replacing — the cracks looked terrible after last winter. A neighbor who does concrete work came over to look and immediately said "this is just surface shrinkage, you're fine." I used Quikrete concrete crack seal, let it set, then rolled on two coats of a penetrating sealer. The freeze-thaw this past winter didn't make things worse at all. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you it's not serious.

Filled a couple of the smaller cracks myself with good results, but there was one crack along the far corner that I kept ignoring because it seemed minor. Turns out that section had slight displacement I hadn't noticed — one side was maybe 3/16 inch higher. The filler I used just cracked out again by the next season. Had a contractor look at it; he said the corner panel had settled slightly due to a drainage issue near the downspout. Fixed the grading, had that panel mudjacked, and it's been solid. Lesson: check for displacement before you start filling.
