Mine was the start relay — I shook it and it rattled exactly like the guides said. Ordered the part for my Whirlpool model for $18 on the parts site, arrived next day, snapped in in literally two minutes. Fridge was cold again within three hours. I was ready to buy a new refrigerator. Really glad I didn't.

Cleaned the coils, checked the fans, replaced the start relay — none of it brought the temperature down below 55°F. Eventually had a tech come out and it turned out the evaporator fan motor was burned out and there was also a partially blocked defrost drain causing a secondary issue. Replacing the fan motor ($45 part) fixed the main problem, though I wish I'd checked that fan more carefully myself instead of assuming it was fine just because it was spinning slowly.
