    I was completely sure it was the heating element because the dryer felt warm but clothes weren't drying.     Cleaned the vent and washed the lint screen — got some improvement but still needed an extra cycle for heavy items like jeans and towels. Wiped the moisture sensor bars and that helped a bit more. Eventually a technician found one of the two heating coils had partially failed, so I was only getting maybe 70% of the heat I should have been. A $28 part later and it's genuinely good as new. Worth doing all the free stuff first though — it did help and it needed doing regardless.
